Common questions from overseas buyers about working with Avalon. Click any question to expand the answer.

We supply registered overseas businesses only — wholesalers, distributors, importers, and e-commerce platforms based outside Australia. We do not supply businesses or consumers within Australia, and we do not sell to private individuals.

Yes. Minimum order quantities (MOQ) vary by brand, product line, and shipping mode. Most ranges have an MOQ at carton or pallet level. Some specialist or high-value lines have higher MOQs. We confirm the MOQ in writing on the quote.

We respond to all enquiries within one business day (Mon–Fri 9–5 AEST). For complex multi-brand enquiries, we may need an additional day to confirm stock availability with our suppliers. We'll let you know if that's the case.

We ask all overseas buyers to provide registration evidence — usually a trade licence number, company registration number, or equivalent — together with your country of registration. This helps us verify that we're trading with a legitimate business buyer.

Quotes are issued in either Australian dollars (AUD) or US dollars (USD), as agreed at the enquiry stage. Once issued, the quote price is locked for 14 days regardless of subsequent exchange rate movements.

Standard payment is by international wire transfer (SWIFT) in the agreed currency, before dispatch. Banking details are provided on the commercial invoice. The buyer covers all bank fees and intermediary charges. See our Payment terms page for letter-of-credit and partial-deposit options.

Default terms are FOB Melbourne (Incoterms 2020). We can also quote on CIF, CFR, or EXW Melbourne by written agreement at the quote stage. The Shipping & Incoterms page covers the differences between these.

By default, no — under FOB Melbourne, the buyer nominates and pays the freight forwarder. However, on request, we can arrange freight booking on the buyer's account (CFR or CIF terms), or coordinate with a freight forwarder you nominate at the Port of Melbourne.

Yes. All goods are sourced from established Australian distributors of the brands shown. We supply products in their original Australian retail packaging. We do not handle parallel imports, refurbished stock, or grey-market goods.

We do our best to supply stock with reasonable shelf life remaining at the time of dispatch from Melbourne, but exact expiry dates depend on what's in our supplier's warehouse at the time of order. If shelf life is critical for your destination market, please specify a minimum shelf-life requirement at the enquiry stage and we'll confirm before quoting.

Where required by your destination country, we can request these documents from the brand owner. Note that lead time may extend and additional fees may apply. Some certificates can only be issued by the manufacturer, not by Avalon. Specify your documentation requirements at the enquiry stage.

The buyer. You are responsible for all destination-country requirements — import licences, product registrations, labelling, language requirements, INCI declarations, country-of-origin marking, customs clearance, and duties/taxes. We supply goods in original Australian retail packaging only. See Section 7 of our Terms of sale for the full list.

Goods being held, refused, or destroyed at the destination port due to import compliance issues is the buyer's responsibility under FOB Incoterms. We are not able to refund or replace goods in this scenario. If you're unsure about your destination country's requirements, check with a local customs broker before placing the order.

No. We do not accept returns for change of mind, over-ordering, refusal of import by destination authorities, or cosmetic packaging changes by the brand owner. Returns are only accepted for goods that are damaged in transit (notified within 7 days of arrival), defective, or incorrectly supplied.

Sometimes. If a brand isn't in our directory, send us a quick email — depending on our supplier network and the brand's distribution policy, we may still be able to source it for export. We can't promise, but it's always worth asking.

Unless explicitly confirmed in writing in the relevant correspondence, no. We trade with stock sourced through Australian distributor networks, but we do not claim authorisation, sponsorship, or distributorship with any brand owner. Brand names are listed only to indicate the range we carry.

Our customer base is overseas wholesale buyers, where every order needs verification of the buyer, customised pricing based on volume and destination, and confirmation of Incoterms and freight arrangement. An automated checkout doesn't fit that workflow. Email-first ordering means every order is reviewed by a real person.
